The wind can do a lot of damage, but it can also be disrupting to you and your family when spending time in your backyard. Some homes are just in such a location that the wind comes howling into their property full speed, making their backyard quite inhospitable. But, is there anything that can be done about such problems?
One solution is to grow a windbreak. A windbreak is a row of trees that grow tightly enough to push the wind up and over your home. This means that they need to be planted about 4 times the height of your home away. Of course, this is a long-term project, but you can cut the waiting time for relief down a bit by planting two rows of trees. The one row will be composed of quick-growing trees that don’t live as long. That way you can get a functioning windbreak early while the slower-growing tree row behind it gets up to the size you need. Those trees usually live longer, so you should be set for a long time.
